וְלַאֲבִיגַ֙יִל֙ אֵ֣שֶׁת נָבָ֔ל הִגִּ֧יד נַֽעַר־אֶחָ֛ד מֵהַנְּעָרִ֖ים לֵאמֹ֑ר הִנֵּ֣ה שָׁלַח֩ דָּוִ֨ד מַלְאָכִ֧ים ׀ מֵֽהַמִּדְבָּ֛ר לְבָרֵ֥ךְ אֶת־אֲדֹנֵ֖ינוּ וַיָּ֥עַט בָּהֶֽם׃

um dentre os mancebos, porém, o anunciou a Abigail, mulher de Nabal, dizendo:  Eis que Davi enviou mensageiros desde o deserto a saudar o nosso amo; e ele os destratou.

But he chased them away. He drove them away with words, an expression of עַיׅט [=bird].12Bereishis 15:11. Others translate וַיָעַט as ‘he kicked them out’ from the root בעט, as in Devarim 32:15.
